Wanted to recommend a few films:

This is a great one, written and directed by Alan Rudolph, who was Robert Altman’s protege…everything about this movie is gorgeous, the acting, the cinematography, the actors…also, check out this one, which is arguably better:

Both films deal in depth with love, romance, and relationships in a very realistic, unsentimental way, but these themes are surrounded by super-stylish set design, hints of the fantastic, surrealism, and bizarre plot points…very intriguing, challenging but fun (and funny), and they linger in your mind after you watch them – Alan Rudolph is definitely an original (and under-appreciated). Check them out.

Also, our weekly wednesday residency@momo’s continues this week, with special guest superstar Jeremy Nail reprising his role as our lead guitar player…we hit it at midnight, don’t miss…then on Saturday, we make our long-overdue San Antonio debut at Sam’s Burger Joint – it’s an early show, we’re on at 6…see you then kids~

Since we’ve had to kinda hang around Austin and not hit the road for an extended period of time as we put the finishing touches on the new record, we thought we’d do a residency rather than just sitting around on Wednesday nights – every Wednesday in February at Midnight, at Momo’s…these won’t be ordinary shows, we’re going to try and mix it up every week – play lost and forgotten songs, special guest appearances, etc. and we get to share the bill with not only good friends but also some of the most talented folks in town, like Drew Smith‘s new band TED, Suzanna Choffel, and a host of others…mark your calendars folks, Momo’s is the place to be on Wednesdays…

We’ve also got some cool shows later this week – we’re opening for English alternative legends Gene Loves Jezebel on Thursday at 8:30pm at Momo’s, and then Saturday we hit the road with our comrade Jeremy Nail to share a bill in Lubbock at Bash Riprocks…see you out there~

There’s a great article in the latest issue of the Nation:

In this article we hear from various contributors on what they believe were the highs and lows of Obama’s first year in office…among the contributors is Howard Zinn, who passed away today at 87, a gadfly whose insights will be sorely missed…Check it out HERE, a lot of differing viewpoints, worth reading.

In other news, we picked up a last minute show tomorrow, Friday Jan 29, at Revolution Cafe in Bryan TX – hope you Bryan folks can make it, should be fun…and of course don’t miss the rock extravaganza on Saturday night at Momo’s with the Greyhounds, Dertybird, and more, we go on early at 9 sharp, don’t miss…all for now, the new record is in the mastering stage, we can’t wait for you all to hear this thing, oh man oh man~
